Final production of filled vials of Covid-19 vaccine.
The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will discuss COVID-19 variants and the vaccines' efficacy against them on 15 March, together with representatives of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), and the World Health Organisation (WHO). The Committee will also go over the Commission's recent Communication on the HERA Incubator.

The HERA Incubator is a bio-defence preparedness plan that will be established and operated by the European Commission to access and mobilise all means and resources necessary, in order to, amongst other things, prevent, mitigate and respond to the potential impact of variants. HERA will work with the ECDC to ensure sufficient and effective sequencing capacity in Member States.

The Committee on Transport and Tourism will go over the major steps forward that have been taken in the field of road safety at EU level on 16 March, together with EU Road Safety Coordinator, Matthew Baldwin. The debate is expected to focus on the Stockholm Declaration on Road Safety and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy at EU level, confirming all aspects of the EU Road Safety Policy Framework 2019, and putting an emphasis on linking "sustainable" and "safe" policies.

Major upcoming legislative initiatives, including the revisions of the Cross-Border Enforcement Directive and of the Driving Licences Directive, are also set to be discussed;

The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development will discuss retail alliances and go over the latest state of play regarding the inter-institutional negotiations on the CAP Strategic Plans, on 15 March. The day after, the Committee will hold a hearing on enabling technological and social innovation for sustainable agriculture in the EU, both with respect to animal and plant production. The Commission's first Strategic Foresight Report will be discussed with its Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič.

PANA Hearing with Věra Jourová, Member of the European Commission responsible for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality
The Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality will discuss the recent proposal for a directive on pay transparency, with Commission Vice-President for Values and Trasparency, Věra Jourová, and Equality Commissioner, Helena Dalli, on 15 March. The networks in charge of gender mainstreaming in the committees and in the standing delegations of the European Parliament will meet on the same day. A workshop on applying gender mainstreaming in the EU recovery package will be held on 16 March.

SEDE meeting 15 March 2021 NATO
The Subcommittee on Security and Defence and the Committee on Foreign Affairs will go over ways of strengthening EU-NATO cooperation to better respond to common security and defence challenges in providing security to citizens in the Euro-Atlantic area. The meeting will take place on 15 March, with the participation of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Security challenges potentially stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic and opportunities for closer cooperation on military mobility, the fight against hybrid threats and the use of disruptive and emerging technologies are some of the key issues that are expected to be addressed during the debate. In the current context, the question of enhancing cohesion among the Allies, when unilateral initiatives threaten the security of all partners, are also set to be discussed.

The Subcommittee on Human Rights will discuss the latest developments in the field of human rights in Saudi Arabia, including international scrutiny over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and its political ramifications. The meeting will be held on 16 March, in association with the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula.
