23.03.21 - NEW The Committees on Budgets, on Budgetary Control and on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will go over the European Court of Auditors (ECA) review of the EU's initial contribution to the public health response to COVID-19, on 23 March. This debate with ECA and Commission representatives will focus on the Court's findings and on the key challenges that have been uncovered during the pandemic.

FISC exchange of views with Mr João Leão, Minister of State for Finance of Portugal
The Subcommittee on Tax Matters will discuss fair taxation of the digitalised economy and international reform in the area of digital taxation with ECOFIN Chair João Leão, Portuguese Finance Deputy Minister, António Mendonça Mendes, and Margrethe Vestager, Commission Executive VP for a Europe Fit for the Digital Age, on 22 and 23 March. The Subcommittee will also go over its report on creating an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable European tax system in a post-COVID economy.

Vote
The Committee on Budgetary Control will vote on the draft discharge reports for 2019 regarding implementation of the EU budget by the Commission, the European Development Fund, the Agencies and the Joint Undertakings. The meeting will be held on 22 and 23 March.

AI and Competitiveness
The Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in a Digital Age will hold a hearing on 23 March, in order to address the following issues: enabling the potential of AI solutions to increase the competitiveness of EU enterprises via regulatory frameworks; building a competitive and innovative AI sector; and challenges to EU enterprises in entering AI markets. The scope of the hearing includes companies legally based in the EU and regardless of their geographical operation.

CSW side event 2021
The Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality will look into the issue of enhancing gender equality and women's empowerment in the COVID-19 recovery, on 23 March, in association with the Committee on Development. This side event of the UN 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65) aims to go over the priorities and initiatives of the European Parliament in this context, while discussing good practices, innovative approaches and possible ways forward.

EMA executive director Emer Cooke
The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will go over the state of play in the evaluation and market authorisation of vaccines against COVID-19 on 23 March, with European Medicines Agency (EMA) Executive Director, Emer Cooke. The next steps in the process will also be discussed.
